Northwood Gymnastics follows the British Gymnastics Awards Programme. As part of this programme, gymnasts are given the opportunity to complete a series of skills to pass the badges within this scheme.
New gymnasts can start at badge 8 and work through the badges from badge 8 to 1, then onto bronze, silver and gold.
All gymnasts' will be assessed during the last few weeks of term in March and December at the session they attend.
If the gymnast passes their badge they will be given the opportunity to purchase the badge and certificate for £4.00

BADGE WEEKS AND CLUB COMPETITION
During the Autumn and Spring terms the children will be working towards the British Gymnastics Proficiency Core Gymnastics Award scheme which assists in the progressive development of core skills such as balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination and incorporates compulsory pulse raising activities. There are 10 types of activity and 8 levels of attainment.
Continuing on from that we have the ‘Advanced Proficiency Gymnastics Award Scheme’ which assists in the development of core fitness (strength, power, flexibility, co-ordination) and gymnastics skills. The scheme offers a range of activities including Fitness, Floor, Vault & Rebound, Apparatus, and Pairs & Groups.
Your child will be assessed within their normal class time at the end of each of the terms (except for the summer term) Badges and Certificates can then be purchased at an additional cost if your child has successfully passed.

My child has never been tested, which level should I choose?
Please select 'no badges yet' from the drop down menu in your online portal.
Do I need to do anything to get my child ready for badge week?
No, the coaches cover all the skills during your child's session.
Does my child have to do badge week?
All gymnasts' will be tested within their session, however, you do not have to purchase the badge and certificate.
Do I have to purchase the badge and certificate.
What happens if my child does not pass their badge?
The child will be given a form with the skills they need to work on for next time. Please hand this form to the coach at your next session.
